Joseph R. Williams is an associate attorney with Pollock Begg Komar Glasser & Vertz LLC. Prior to being admitted to the Pennsylvania Bar in October 2009, he was a law clerk with the firm. Joseph received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology from Bethany College in 2006, where he completed a senior project titled "Total Recall? The Reliability of Witness Testimony." He received his Juris Doctor from the Duquesne University School of Law in June 2009.
While in law school, Joseph was a semi-finalist in the Carol Los Mansmann Appellate Moot Court Competition at Duquesne University School of Law. He also served as a staff writer for Juris, Duquesne's award winning legal magazine. Joseph published three articles for Juris, respectively titled "From the Courtroom to the Capitol: Duquesne Lawyers Active in Politics," "Lawyers Fall Prey to Pricey Internet Scams," and "Not So Fast! New Allegheny County Foreclosure Program Gives Residents One More Chance to Keep Their Homes Before Eviction."
Joseph is a member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association and Allegheny County Bar Association. In 2010, he was selected as one of 15 young lawyers in Allegheny County to participate in the Bar Leadership Initiative 2010-2011 Class. He recently commenced a one-year term as the Zone 12 delegate on the PBA Young Lawyers Division Executive Council. Through the ACBA, Joseph is an active member of the Family Law Section and was elected to a three-year term on Family Law Section Council for 2011-2014. He is also active in the ACBA Young Lawyers Division and was elected to a two-year term on YLD Council for 2011-2013. Joseph serves on the ACBA YLD Member Services Committee and the Public Service Committee.
Joseph has also authored on family law matters in various publications. In 2008, he authored the alimony case law update for the Pennsylvania Bar Institute's General Practitioners Update. In 2010, he authored the support case law update for the Allegheny County Bar Association Bench and Bar Conference Family Division Sound-Off. Recently, he was featured as a case note contributor to the Pennsylvania Family Lawyer.
